The engineering department uses and maintains it from time to time, the transferred files are accessible to some other concerned department(s) like internal analytics. Fast data transfer, especially for app resources and a cache backup are some problems this works best with.

These cloud storage products deliver sufficient space to store data and access and have an array of ways to transfer this data and keep it secure. IBM Aspera on Cloud focuses on the transfer and makes it a lot faster mainly due to its patented tech and altered UDP protocol. Since most of production code uses IBM services, it was natural to go with IBM Aspera on Cloud.
IBM Aspera has been the most favorable file sharing and cloud transfer solution that my company has used. It is very reliable and efficient when it comes to file sharing and file transfer. My company is in the online retail sector, and we have multiple software that we use and that are a part of our operational model. Some of the software we use deals with sales, logistics, CRM, HR, etc. We require a reliable tool to share files on software installation, and these files also include authentic information that is sensitive and cannot be disclosed to unauthorized personnel. IBM Aspera for us, is the fastest file sharing solution in a highly secured environment. The embedded protocols meet our security standards and speed requirements. Most files that we transfer take a huge amount of space and IBM Aspera allows us to transfer those huge files very quickly. It's a fast-paced transfer tool even when the internet speed is not that high. Aspera makes sharing large size files over the internet very easy.
- Very easy to configure, implement, administer, and support. In my company, we don't require a vendor to support Aspera. We have a dedicated team, which does the work for us. This makes it cost-effective.
- Features include file-sharing options for users outside the organization. This is a great feature especially if you deal with multiple sales vendor who requires restricted access to your software. Aspera allows you to share certain software access files with them.
- The biggest issue is with version control, there are frequent requests that come along to update to the latest version. This becomes a challenge if you use Aspera around the clock. Any updates will halt Aspera's use and this can create operational inefficiency.
- File download with the same file name creates an issue because the system doesn't distinguish between the files. No error message is shown and the file gets downloaded as it is on the desktop.
- Easy and fast sharing at a medium to low internet speed saves a lot of money on internet costs.
- Incorporates very well with increased security standards.
My company used Dropbox before we implemented Aspera. When it comes to file security we felt more comfortable in Aspera. The file transfer speed especially uploading and downloading files using Dropbox was very low. We found it not that reliable when it came to file transfer. Aspera, when compared to Dropbox, was very fast and reliable. It saved us a lot on the internet bandwidth, where we could go with a medium to low-speed internet. Another issue with Dropbox is its lack of flexibility in integrations. It is hard to integrate Dropbox with other software this makes file storage a big challenge, you have to manually save the file in the Dropbox.

Reliable & FAST File Sharing
The organization I work for made the decision to purchase Aspera and have it integrated with a new Workflow Management system for their Graphics Department. As the Graphics Department was sending large files to different artist and project leaders, they required a very fast, reliable system that supported large files to be uploaded and downloaded with speed and with the integrity and quality of the file intact.
- The upload and download speed is very fast compared to the other systems we have used in the past.
- The file uploader has a progress bar which very accurately shows in both visual and percentage manner, the quantity of the file uploaded and time remaining.
- Ability to send multiple files to multiple people. A lot of these file transfer systems dont have that ability, so its a great plus for a big organization.
- The upload window doesnt stay on top of the web browsers. It kept getting lost if another browser tab was opened.
- The system lacks ability to customize the due notifications when the upload/download is completed. The users should be able to choose if they want a sound notification or another way to be notified of large uploads/downloads that take time.
- Multiple downloads of the same name (same file)have no distinct file names automatically given by the system to distinguish between them. I think the system should prompt an error message in that instance.
- Ability to save time while uploading and downloading is a great way to quantify a positive ROI
- Less time wasted on calls to the Helpdesk to check if the file made it to the sender. The system ensures that any file uploaded successfully is shown in the dashboard.
- Dependability on the system ensures credibility with the clients and customers that their work will be delivered on time and with the great quality intact.
Initially the organization depended on services like Dropbox and Google Drive to share and store files for the graphic department as well as use their own private servers for storage. However, the speed for uploading and downloading wasn't reliable. Plus it lacked the central console for a birds eye view of the exchanges to keep track of what the users were uploading/downloading. The speed for Aspera has been unbeatable compared to other systems, plus its a very reliable, dependable system for large file to be shared in time.
